After considering several different phrases I could use to share the overview of lessons three and four from A Course In Weight Loss, I believe how to get skinny is as good as any.
Up until I started reading this book I didn’t really give the spiritual side of weight loss much consideration. I understood completely that I could reshape my body through mental imagery, and I’ve been using that strategy, but I was not prepared for the impact that this book would have concerning my relationship to God, or a Higher Power as understood by the individual.
We can HEAR advice through many resources but how often do you really listen to what’s being said? So many of the answers we seek, as human beings, have been archived for us yet for some reason many of us seem to think that we know better than those who have created, tested and proven the formula. A Course In Weight Loss teaches us exactly what we want to know. How to get skinny. Sure, we want to be healthy and fit and all of that good stuff but the truth for most of us is that we want to look good and feel good. It turns out that there is nothing wrong with that.
The image I have chosen for this blog post I believe best represents the overall theme of lessons three and four. The lessons are very in depth and I can only begin to scratch the surface of their true power with this blog post.
I’m certain that the way this book is written will have an profound impact on everyone but in a completely unique way. As for me I want to know how to get skinny. I want to know how to have a physique that looks as good, or better, than the guy in the picture above. That’s what I really want. That’s the end result I’m looking for.
In lesson three the book teaches people to reconnect with God or their Higher Power as they understand it. In God we find our ideal. Connecting with God allows us to bring our ideal to the surface which assists in the transformation process of our body. Losing weight and going through a complete transformation isn’t just about healthy eating, proper diet and exercise. We need to lose the emotional weight we are carry to assist us in losing the physical weight. Connecting with God is the answer to the question how to get skinny because the skinny version of us is already there. We just have to bring her or him to the surface.
Lesson four really hit home with me and is part of the reason I chose the picture used for this post. I’ve been programmed, from the time I was a child, that vanity was a sin. According to the Bible, so is gluttony. So where do you draw the line? Based on what I have learned you don’t have to draw a line. It is perfectly acceptable to God for us to strive and desire to be our best. To envision ourselves in our perfect body living our perfect life, through prayer and meditation, is what brings it to pass. Remember, thoughts become things. So it’s okay to ask how to get skinny and desire knowledge on how to get skinny and envision ourselves as our skinny, ripped, lean, happy selves!
For me these two lessons were basically a wake up call that it is okay to desire and focus on looking better and being better. It really helped me get passed a bit of a spiritual hurdle, so to speak. It’s perfectly acceptable to recreate ourselves using this mental imagery. As you read lessons three and four from A Course In Weight Loss, the picture I have chosen for this blog post will make even more sense.
In closing, start making mental exercise as big a part of your weight loss program as is physical exercise. Take the time, everyday, to get by yourself, get quiet and mentally focus on your ideal body. Doing this will bring it to pass. Remember, thoughts become things!
